I must be more in a “notes” kind of mood this week. Sometimes it helps a Manager to just sum up.
- Today our company ended up at at the library twice. The second was an unplanned excursion after preschool pickup. Before preschool, K.Lo threw a tantrum about going, and I distracted/offered incentive by telling her that while she was at school, I’d be going to the library to pick her up some books. (I like to sort through online sometimes and put books on hold; it’s like online shopping, and I find it easier.) K.Lo was excited at the prospect but got it in her head that she was going to the library, and the first words out of her mouth at pickup were, “We’re going to the library?!” She said it with such enthusiasm, I didn’t have the heart to say no. More of our on-hold books were available in the afternoon, so it worked out. K.Lo and an N.Lo both charmed by grabbing a few books off the shelf and settling down in chairs to “read.” I love the library.
- Favorite stories at the moment: The “If You Take a Mouse” series (thanks, Megan!), the Frances series, Curious George, Dr. Seuss, and nursery rhymes.
- Our Laundry Fairy has been making use of the new clothes line in the backyard, which she luckily (so far) finds soothing, rather than an annoyance. The rest of the company usually plays in the sandbox and on the slide while she hangs laundry, although it should be noted that whining about the swing set is not permitted. The Laundry Fairy only has so many magic powers, and hanging clothes while pushing children on the swing 15 feet away is not one of them.
- I cut N.Lo’s hair this evening. It needed a trim here and there, wasn’t particularly long, but just shaggy and uneven in certain areas from the last trim. I of course have no idea what I’m doing with the hair cutting, but cut a little here, a little there, and to N.Lo’s credit he did sit still during this process, so long as he could play with the comb while not in use. I’m interested to see how the haircut will dry. More on this matter to come, perhaps in the form of photographic evidence.
- Our Purchasing Department has expressed dissatisfaction with the local grocery store, which does not stock Night-Time Pull-Ups. Pressed to be efficient while out running errands, they bought the regular Pull-Ups, and our whole company fears that the Night Shift will suffer adverse consequences…
such a good mommy. . not wanting to disappoint. It sound exactly like a predicament I'd find myself in. There are worse places to have to go to twice, I suppose! We love Dr. Seuss and nursery rhymes over here, too!
glad you enjoying the clothes line!
brave woman to tackle the hair cutting! I'm nervous about Wyatt not holding still and gouging his eye out.
